No longer would he answer to Chris McCandless; he was now Alexander Supertramp, master of his own destiny.
Chris' teachings are explained
"It is ... the great triumphant joy of living to the fullest extent in which real meaning is found" This shows that chris has found on his journey, that meaning is found in living life to the fullest extent. This is something that not many people do, and is looked down upon by many.
" How is it ... that a kid with so much compassion could cause his parents so much pain" The fact that Chris' disappearance caused pain in his family shows that he is selfish, and dose not have compassion for others.
"The whole idea was to lose our bearings, to push ourselves into unknown territory." this shows that Chris followed his dreams in spite of the stigma behind being a wanderer. this has allowed Chris to gain the respect of many people who do not fit in.
