I began my story of Phoebe with the visit to the red-headed Margaret Cadaver. Margaret nearly fell over herself being nice to me. I was not sweet.
Awwwwww! What lovely hair, aren't you so sweet
Sal, why don't you sit down?
Three days later, I started school and saw Phoebe. She was in my class. One girl, Mary Lou Finney, said the most peculiar things, like out of the blue she would say," Omnipotent!" or "Beef Brain!" There were Megan andChristy who jumped up and down like parched peas, moody Beth Ann, andpink-cheeked Alex. There was Ben who drew cartoons all day long, and a most peculiar teacher named Mr. Birkway. And then there was Phoebe Winterbottom. Ben called her 'Free-Bee IceBottom' and drew a picture of a bumble-bee with an ice cube on its bottom. Phoebe tore it up. Phoebe was a quiet girl. She stayed mostly by herself and seemed quite and shy. She had the most pleasant face and huge, enormous sky-blue eyes.
Oh My God
Why is my life horrible
Hahaha Free Bee Ice bottom!!
Ben is so annoying
Sal, her father, and her grandpa is back in Bybanks now. Gram is buried in the aspen grove where she and Gramps met. Sal misses her grandma a lot.
Phoebe, mom is coming home.
Prudence and Mr. Winterbottom tell Phoebe and Sal that Phoebe's Mom is coming. Phoebe is not excited.
We have to make sure that the house is clean for Mrs. Winterbottom. Maybe it's too clean, she might think we don't need her.
Mrs. Winterbottom arrives, but with the lunatic. Prudence and Mr. Winterbottom were shocked, and Mr. Winterbottom asked to sit down to talk about whats' happening.
