  • Think of the consequences!! what if Creon finds out Antigone? Then what??
  • " We can not fight with men, Antigone! " (Sophicles Prologue 47).
  • Antigone is arguing with Ismene over burying their brothers body and Ismene is afraid that Creon might find out and that they can't fight men; So she doesn't try helping Antigone. Despite Ismene's decison, Antigone has beliefs and one of them include burying her brother with or without Ismene and what she certainly doesn't believe in is gender roles.
  • Prologue
  • " And now you can prove what your are, a true sister or a traitor to your family " (Prologue 25-27).
  • Ismene we should bury Polyneices' body. Are you going to help me?
  • As Creon now takes full power of the throne; He demands that no one is to touch or bury Polyneices' body but little does he know that Antigone is up to it.
  • " And I as the next in blood, have succeeded to the full power of the throne. " ( Sophicles 144-145).
  • Scene 1
  • "Polyneices I say is to have no burial: no man is to touch him or say the least prayer for him; he shal lie on the plain, unburied; and the birds and the scavenging dogs can do with him whatever they like" (Sophicles 169-173)
  • Antigone gets caught burying Polyneices' body yet she doesn't try to escape. Although she knew what the consequences were she still faces them. She is sent to Creon and is being questioned, she denies nothing and is sent to prison till death.

  • Scene 2
  • Did you bury Polyneices' body?
  • She is my fiance father. If she is to die then her death will be the cause of another.
  • Haemon finds out that his father is considering in killing Antigone. He comes and talks to his dad almost trying to convince him to not do this hinting out that it may cause another death (his own) but his father doesn't seem to care and doesn't get the hint.
  • Scene 3
  • I set a law that goes out to everyone son.
  • Antigone starts feeling really regretful and depressing. She just wants to be left alone.
  • Scene 4
  • What have I done?
  • Oh no.
  • Creon was advised by a prophet to do what's right and finally after Creon going back and forth he decides to listen & buries Polyneices' body. He returned to free Antigone but it was too late, he found her dead. Haemon tries to kill his father but fails to and kills himself. Creons wife finds out about this then commits suicide. The over all result is that Creon regrets everything he's done and wishes to die.
