Charlie Bucket is a boy who lives rather unfortunate, often depraved of food, bed, and privacy.
Charlie lives with his mother, Mrs. Bucket, and his Grandpa Joe, Grandma Josephine, Grandpa George and Grandma Georgina. Charlie's grandparents remain in bed for the entirety of the story, with the exception of Grandpa Joe.
News that the famous Willy Wonka placed 5 golden tickets within his chocolate bars had the world searching all over for a winning ticket to gain entry in to his secret factory. Of course, Charlie dreamed of winning, but felt like his chances were really slim and improbable.
The 5 golden ticket winners, Violet Beauregarde, Veruca Salt, Charlie, Mike Teavee, and Augustus Gloop all travel to Willy Wonka's factory for their tour. Slugworth attempts to persuade each individual winner to obtain the secrets of Wonka's Chocolate Factory.
All were amazed at the complexity and awe that Willy Wonka's factory. Each golden ticket winner went through a trial unknowingly to determine their morality.
Augustus Gloop drinks the chocolate from the chocolate river and falls in. He is sucked up from one of the pipes in the river, in which the Oompa-Loompas sing of his greed, giving reason for his consequence.
