Storyboard Text

  • Clauses, there are two types, independent and dependent. Without these, sentences would remain incomplete.
  • Interesting. Well, i'm glad you asked! Phrases add description to make sentences more alive and more well rounded.
  • Why does the English language need phrases and clauses?
  • Semicolons are used to connect two independent clauses. EX. "I went to the store; me and mom bought cupcakes."
  • Semicolons merge two independent clauses while colons express' what chases the first phrase.
  • Mr. Allan, why do we need colons and semicolons?
  • EX. "I love: eggs, pasta, pancakes, and ham."
  • Dependent clauses do not express a complete thought in which means they ca't stand alone.
  • How are dependent clauses "dependent" on independent clauses?
  • What is the role of a subordinating conjunction?
  • These create dependent clauses, remember every dependent begins with a sub. conjunction.
  • How would I use colons and semicolons?
  • (1)Since you answered my questions, I believe I learned more about grammar than I used to know.
  • (3)Okay me too, I believe i'm fine.
  • (2)If you ever need anything i'm here.
  • (4)Stop by my room anytime!
  • (5)Will do, have a good day!
