  • On December 7th, 1941, it was the attack of the Japanese on Pearl Harbor. 1,178 Americans were wounded and 2,403 were killed. Over 300 Japanese were involved of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The plane that they used during the attack was the "Japanese Zero." 
  • Women during the World War Two played an important role. Women worked in factories making weapons that were used during the war. For example, women would build ships, tanks, and jeeps. They also made weapons like bullets, guns, riffles, and more. So women helped win the war with what they were doing.
  • Americans worried that Japanese acted as spies or saboteurs for Japanese government. Over 127,000 Japanese were put into concentration camps even if they were born in the U.S. Americans suspected they were loyal to their ancestral land. Their homes in the concentration camps were spartan. They mostly consisted of tarpaper barracks. 
  • In September 1939, France and England declared war on Germany. However... the U.s. wants to stay out of it. Many Americans believed in isolationism. Most Americans didn't think any good came from helping the Allies in World War 1. It began after Germany invaded Poland.
  • Germany has been secretly building up its army since Adolf Hitler became Germany's dictator in 1933. Hitler wants to get back the power of Germany lost in World War 1. He says he will crush any country that stands in Germany's way.
  • On August 6th, 1945, it was the destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Today teenagers don't know what happened on August 6th of 1945... Probably because no one talked about it. On that day it was the attack on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Thousands and thousands of people died. A new powerful nuclear weapon was dropped down on them killing tons of people.
