  • Today as we inaugurate William Howard Taft, I stand by my great decision to choose him for our next president.
  • Theodore Roosevelt "chose" William Howard Taft as the next president, and he is being inaugurated.
  • In my first message to you, I propose this 2% tax on net income. I also believe we should adopt a new amendment, the sixteenth amendment.
  • In President Taft's first message to congress, he proposes a new tax and calls for the sixteenth amendment, which they soon pass. This authorizes Congress to collect income taxes.
  • I am asking you to grant my investors aloan that has been in Europe due to a railroad in China
  • President Taft is negotiating with China to strengthen America's financial policy.
  • This is the best bill that the Republican party ever passed!
  • President Taft is signing the Payne-Aldrich Tariff Act, which went against his promises as president and angered his party. This act establishes a Tariff Board and reduces the tariff.
  • Theodore Roosevelt is giving his "New Nationalism" speech. Shortly after, William Taft sent Roosevelt a letter basically saying that his play will never work out
  • We need a new role for the government dealing with social issues...
  • I hereby file a suit against the US Steel. They have violated the Sherman Act.
  • President Taft filed a suit, blaming Roosevelt for letting the US Steel purchase The Tennessee Iron and Coal Company. This caused major issues in Taft and Roosevelt's relationship.
