  • So first we will start by learning what matter is. Well matter is anything that has mass and volume. The components or states of matter are solid, liquid, and gas.
  • Good morning class! Today we will be learning all about the classification of matter!
  • Now I want Emily to explain to me what a solid is, Josh to explain to me what a liquid is, and Hayley to explain to me what a gas is.
  • A solid is something that keeps its shape. The particles in a solid can only vibrate and cannot move from their position. An example of a solid is a rock.
  • A liquid is something that has a definite volume, but is not a fixed shape. In a liquid the particles can move enough that they can slide past each other. An example a liquid is water
  • A gas is something that has no fixed shape or volume. An example of a gas is air. The particles in a gas can bounce freely and rapidly.
