"Sometimes the dipped cattle became agitated here. No one knew why. But Temple did"(92).

Signpost: Quoted Words
" Just Imagine this awful scene- angry rabbis, endangered workers, suffering cattle, blood everywhere- and add the soundtrack of Temple's favorite animals bellowing in pain and fear. No wonder that after her visit, she wrote in her diary: 'if hell exists, then I'm in it' " (103).
" She had heard that one before. People have been calling Temple Grandin 'crazy,' 'retarded,' and 'off her rocker' ever since her father first insisted she be put away in an institution when she was three years old. She's proved them wrong every time" (121).
I've got this
" The purpose of all this was to make the live steer's head point down. Then, a rabbi with a special long knife slit the animal's throat as required by Kosher law" (102).
The difference in this is that no one could figure out why the cattle would become agitated, but Temple knew because of her special way of seeing the world. This matters because Temple was able to help the cattle become more calm, making the process of slaughtering easier.
Word Gap: Rabbi
Temple was quoted because it helped emphasize how horribly terrified Temple was to see this. The quote added emphasis, and helped me understand Temple's thoughts on this situation.
Summary: The Important Thing
Three important ideas are: 1. Different doesn't mean less. 2. FInd your door and walk through it. 3. Embracing challenges can lead to a strong person.
Persisting in the face of setbacks, Temple continued to work hard through all the doubt that was forced upon her. The difference this makes is that Temple could've given up, but she didn't, and she continued to improve herself. If Temple would've given up because of all the doubt, then she wouldn't have accomplished half the things she has in her life now.
