HELEN! HELEN! HELEN!
SHE CANT SEE! CAPTAIN
Nice to meet you!
At this scene Captain Keller and Kate realized that their Baby Helen couldn't see. Neither hear. Kate had panicked and called Captain Keller who was very upset and aggravated. Kate was very devastated about hearing this. Kate was the most hurt because she didn't want to see her baby Helen trying to be like the other children and cant because she is deaf and blind.
In this scene Annie Sullivan was hired to help try to teach blind and deaf Helen Keller. Kate was unsure about Annie. Annie and Kate had stared each other down for a while before saying anything to each other. Captain Keller wasn't believing in any other teachers. Captain Keller was tired of getting more doctors and teachers to spend money on because he didnt think that anybody could help. He though that Annie was to young to teach Helen. He also said that a blind person teaching a blind person wouldn't work.
After Helen tried to eat off Annie's plate, she was punished. Annie tried to teach Helen table manners on how to eat with her utensils and how to fold her napkin. Captain Keller was about to kick Annie out of the house. Annie showed them that Helen has learned to fold her napkin, they kept Annie. Helen had also spit food in Annie's face so Annie splashed water in Helen's.
I love... Helen!
After Annie had gotten the time from Kate and Captain Keller to have her in the greenhouse so Helen can learn to tolerate Annie. Annie had ended up having to spell words out to Percy to make Helen jealous. Percy was scared of Helen even though he did it. After that Helen learned to Tolerate Annie. Annie only had 2 weeks to do this though.
Annie came back from her time with Helen alone in the greenhouse. She did not feel like she taught Helen enough time with her to teach her much. They had a welcome back dinner which was Helen's favorite dinner. Helen kept dropping her napkin to try and test the family to see what she could still get away with. Helen took the pitcher and and swung it around, landing most of the water on Annie's skirt. Annie took her outside. James also knew what was right and defended Annie, stopping his father.
Here Annie took Helen outside to the well to fill up the pitcher for punishment. She realized that Helen was acting a bit different and feeling the water in every way and stays there for a bit. She remembers that of when she was young and could try to say water but said "wah wah". Helen realized that everything had a name and she kept pointing to everything around her with Annie spelling everything in her hand.
