  • The Constitutional Congress over time
  • By: Brooklyn McAlpin11/4/19Warmboe 3
  • I wrote the draft of The Virginia Plan and it called for three main parts.
  • I am Madison and I think the government should be ruled by the people.
  • because they were too scared that a strong government would cause danger to the rights of states.
  • I am Benjamin Franklin and I the oldest here at age 81. I can't believe the other men didn't come.
  • Hello, I am George Washington and I am the president because I'm so well-known and I have a lot of power
  • The second house will be the Senate, which have 2 senators to represent each state
  • My name is Roger Sherman and we have finally agreed that we will a two-house congress
  • The first house will be the House of Representatives that is full of people from each state based on the population.
  • What if we did the 3/5 compromise? We would count each slave as 3/5 of a person.
  • Congress now has control over trade, but with 2 limitations.
  • I heard that some states have put an end to slavery. Also, some other states want to increase the amount of slaves they have.
  • In the Pennsylvania Court house, John Hancock, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, and Sam Adams didn't show up to the meeting
  • We should have three strong leaders in total.
  • No, that doesn't make sense. We only need one leader called a president.
  • Roger is from Connecticut and helped Congress come up with a compromise to make it fair. This was later known as the Great Compromise.
  • Well we better all sign it because it is best for the people and will make them happy
  • I do have to say that I don't fully agree with this constitution because I have worries and don't know if this is the best idea.
  • I can't believe some delegates left the meeting early and didn't even sign the constitution
  • They needed to decide if slaves should be counted for the state's population or as property and taxed. Madison invented the 3/5 compromise.
  • They can't tax put taxes on exports to other countries and they can't interfere with the slave trade until 1808.
  • They now needed to elect the Chief Executive and George Washington and Edmund Randolph are trying to decide how to elect a chief.
  • Well we can settle this by people voting by the Electoral College
  • The convention ends on September 17, 1787 by people signing it and they officially published it and it was a new day for the USA.
