  • No one will ever say anything bad about me again.
  • I don't want to have to wait 9 extra years to become a citizen.
  • John Adams and the Americans got mad so they broke their treaties with France, they expanded their Navy, and allowed their Navy to seize France's boats.
  • The alien and sedition acts violate the constitution.
  • America needs Nullification
  • Our resolutions will work.
  • A democratic-republican newspaper writer wrote, "he is the blasted tyrant of America", about John Adams, which made the Federalists and John Adams mad. The Federalists started calling the Democratic-Republicans Mobcrats, and democrats.
  • Because the Democratic-Republicans made John Adams mad, John Adams made the Alien and Sedition Acts. This meant no one could say anything bad about the government, and immigrants who were not yet citizens had to wait fourteen years instead of five years to become a citizen.
  • The Democratic-Republican's were fighting against the Alien and Sedition Acts. Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, the leaders of the Democratic-Republicans,  decided to write resolutions. The resolutions were passed by the Kentucky and Virginia Legislatures. Both of the Resolutions showed how the Alien and Sedition Acts opposed the Constitution. Before two years had passed the Democratic-Republicans took control of Congress, and stopped the Alien and Sedition Acts.
