We have to find the cervix! Where is it? Look out for the harmful acids that protect the vagina!
I think the cervix is somewhere near the upper end! Hopefully we will survive through this deep dark dungeon.
Im ahead! Im making my way to the long awaitied uterus!!
oh no! Im getting lost in this long staircase! Too many pathways!
The journey of the sperm begins when the sperm is inserted into the vagina during intercourse. Over 200 million sperm enter the vagina intentionally, but less than 1 percent survive.
AHH! GET OUT YOU INVADER!
The x and y sperm enter the vagina after leaving the penis. They are now about to begin their journey to try and fertilize a egg. They must protect themselves from the harmful acids that are inside the vagina walls.
The Fallopian Tube
The sperm must swim through the cervical canal and find their way to the opening of the uterus. It is easy for them to get lost, or stuck in the tiny opening and gaps. The strong ones will make it through and find their way to the uterus. Some sperm will die.
Implantation in the uterus
This long journey payed off! Yay, our traits are perfect for each other! I am so exited for our baby boy. Time to develop here in the uterus for 9 months.
Once the strong sperm make it to the uterus, it is a relief. But their journey to their ultimate goal, fertilization, is not over yet. they must make it past the white blood cells that try to attack the sperm because it is not familiar with that hormone, the white blood cells treat the sperm like an invading cell. The must make it to the fallopian tube, and hope it is the correct side that is ovulating.
AHH! I must get to the correct fallopian tube so I can meet the egg and get ready for conception! Which door do i choose?
Once the sperm chooses the right side, it is about to finally meet the egg. The sperm will collide with it, and its head will explode and will insert itself into the egg. Once a sperm has fertilized the egg, the egg will not let anymore sperm in. Now the fertalized egg will go to the uterus for implantation.
after my long journey and facing many obstacles to get the this place, I have fianlly made it to you. Time to work my magic and make a baby, my combining our genes!
The egg and the sperm have collided. The egg travels to the uterus through the fallopian tube, and now the process of the baby's development will start.
