The King and his fat, oily men lived for a practical joke, especially when it was at somebody else's expense, mostly Hop-Frog or Tripetta, he had them kidnapped from their own country and be brought to him so that he could laugh at them
Hop-Frog was an unfortunate character. He is described as a crippled dwarf with a strong upper body that helped him move around. This was of course funny to the king and he found great pleasure in watching this. He was taken from his home country in order to be a jester for the king.
"Hop-Frog, I am going to have a masquerade and I will need the help of you and Tripetta for ideas on what to do.
The night of the masquerade had come and everyone seemed ready to go except the King and his seven councilors, so the had called in Hop-Frog and Tripetta to talk
It turns out that the King had found out that Hop_frog could not drink alcohol without messing him up, so the King had forced him to drink as a practical joke for his enjoyment. The King had also pushed Tripetta, causing Hop-Frog to make a nasty noise, as he was plotting revenge
Now it was time to get to business, Hop-Frog had described his plan, but said it had required eight persons. The King got very excited and said that he and his seven fat man would do it! It would be called the eight chained Ourang-Outangs and it would frighten many people if perfected.
