The Viet Cong, controlled by Communist Soviets, and the South Vietmanese, aided by American troops were fighting over Vietnam. The Communists invaded the South. The South held their battle becuase they were aided by America.
French Forces Attack Viet Minh
American soldiers invaded a South Vietmanese village of unarmed people, and even people who wouldn't be associated with the military which include women, children, and old men.
The Gulf of Tonkin incident was when North Vietnam's troops torpedoed an American ship. All while the American ship was in international waters.
Ending of Vietnam War
French forces attacked Viet Minh troops, despite being outnumbered by about 25,000. In the end, the French lost because they were attacked at all positions.
The Tet Offensive was a series of suprise attacks by the Vietcong and North Vietnamese troops. This would later be known as the turning point of the war.
US's involvement of the Vietnam War was ended on August 31th, 1973 as a result of the Case-Church Amendment. The capture of Saigon by the NVA was in 1975, and the North and South were reunited.
