BOOK ONE: HOUSE OF ODYSSEUS
The gods want to help Odysseus get home, and now that poseidon is away, they have a meeting to discuss how to help him.
Athena, in the form of an old family friend, Mentes, instructs Telemachus on how to rid the suitors from his home, and gives him the courage and confidence needed to take action.
Telemachos informs the suitors that he intends to hold session at the market and he will be requesting to have them removed from his, and his mother's home.
BOOK 2: THE MARKET PLACE OF ITHACA
Telemachos introduces his situation to the council, but gets denied of aid or support.
Athena, in the form of an old family friend, Mentor, advises Telemachus to take a journey and seek his father's whereabouts, hoping this will lead to the absence of the suitors.
After gathering a crew and borrowing a ship, Athena and Telemachos set sail for Pylos.
