Mr. White and his son play chess. Mrs. White knits and talks to them. Mr. White does not think the Sergeant will come because it is a stormy night.
The Sergeant-Major Morris gives Mr. White a magical Monkey's paw. He warns Mr. white about the consequences of using the paw. The son tells him to use it for money.
Mr. and Mrs. White gets the 200 pounds from the Monkey's Paw. With every wish they make something bad happens. For this wish their son dies.
Mr. and Mrs. White hear a knock on the door. Mrs. White thinks it is her son. Mr. White knows it could not be his regular son.
Mr. White struggles to find the Monkey's Paw. While this is happening Mrs. White tries to open the door because she thinks the knocking is her son. Then Mr. White finds the paw and the knocking stops. Mr. White has wished his son was still dead.
