Storyboard Text

  • Hey, are you going to watch the Lunar eclipse tonight.
  • What's that?
  • It's when the Earth blocks the sun from the moon, making the moon look red.
  • Oh, so the moon goes behind the Earth's shadow.
  • Yeah, the moon passes through  the Earth's umbra creating a total lunar eclipse.
  • Yes.
  • I think we learned this in school today. This happen during a full moon.
  • So if this happens during a full moon, why doesn't it happen every month?
  • Because the moons orbit around Earth  is slanted, in respect to Earth's tilt on it's axis. So a lunar eclipse  doesn't happen every month.
  • Can everyone see this tonight?
  • Well yes and no.  Since the Earth is much larger than the moon everyone that  is in night will see the lunar eclipse.
  • Maybe I  can actually  pass the quiz on this.
  • No problem
  • Thanks for explaining to me what a Lunar eclipse is.
