  • Mary Malone sews as she calmly waits for her husband. She is excited because it is her sixth-month pregnant.  They also normally go out to eat on thursdays.
  • Falling Action
  • Please eat up.
  • Patrick comes home tired and Mary makes him a drink. Patrick drinks it within a few seconds. Patrick starts to tell Mary something that she doesn't want to hear.
  • Resolution
  • Mary goes into the kitchen to grab a leg of lamb. She goes over to Patrick and hits him as hard as she can on the back of the head. Then she starts to cry.
  • Literary Term
  • Honey, I'll get you another drink.
  • No, I'll get my own drink.
  • Mary asks if the police officers want a drink. Mary then asks the police officers if they can do her a favor. The favor was to eat the leg of lamb that she cooked for her husband.
  • Mary laughs in another room. As the police officers eat the leg of lamb. Which indicates that she isn't going to be arrested.
  • Should I eat more lamb?
  • Yeah she told us it would make her feel better
  • Irony was shown in this story when Patrick stands up and makes his own drink. Mary tries to stop him but he says no. This is out of the ordinary for Mary.
