  • In South Africa he was thrown out of a train even though he had a first class ticket this made him want to fight for equal rights against the South African government
  • Gandhi led non violent protests such as lying on roads and train tracks he was sent to jail multiple times but eventually won better rights for coloured people in South Africa
  • Gandhi returned to India with reputation for being a peaceful equal rights activist
  • Gandhi lead a salt march in protest to the law banning Indian people from making there own salt
  • Gandhi was assasinated by a Hindu extremist
