  • In this scene in the Lottery there is sacrifice because the town believes every year that they should pull a name out of a hat and the name pulled is pummeled to death by stones for good luck for the town. This has been happening for hundreds of years and is a form of sacrifice.
  • The Lottery foreshadowed the fact that they would sacrifice someone when in the beginning of the story all of the children where looking around of rocks and picking them up.
  • The mood of the story is very tense and unsettling because everyone in the town knows what will happen soon and no one wants there name to be pulled.
