  • Chapter 1- Hope

  • Chapter 2- Friendship
  • "There is a path through the willows & among the sycamores, a path beaten hard by boys" (1)
  • Chapter 3- Violence
  • "He's my cousin" said George (22)
  • This quote relates to the theme of HOPE. This shows us that Lennie really wants to live off the fatta the land.
  • Chapter 4- Discrimination
  • This shows that they have the hope to make it to the ranch. Since they have each other & always get through everything to together.
  • Chapter 5- Loneliness
  • "Crooks seemed to come slowly out of the layers of protection he had put on" (82)
  • This shows that Lennie & George are great friends. George is saying that Lennie is his cousin so that he can stay in the ranch with George.
  • Chapter 6- Death
  • "I get lonely, she said" (87)
  • This shows that it was a violence act. He was yelling at Lennie, this is a father-son type argument.
  • "George was on his feet yelling , get him Lennie" (63)
  • This shows that he got discriminated. He took the layers of protection he had.
  • This shows that Curley's wife always feels lonely. She also feels lonely because Curley doesn't pay attention to Curley's wife.
