After seeing how corrupt the church was, Luther nailed his 95 theses to the church door. The common people loved his ideas and spread them, which upset church officials.
Luther is told to repent, but he refuses to because he says he did nothing wrong. He is now labeled a heretic. His books are outlawed and burned.

A trial is held for Luther in Worms, Germany. Luther admits to writing his books, which enrages the clergy. Prince Frederick hides Luther, who translates the Bible to vernacular while he hides.
I cannot, and I will not recant. Here I stand. I can do no other.
The emperor is furious when he learns about the translated bible and he tries to outlaw it, but Luther convinces the princes that they should refuse to outlaw it. They do, and the emperor is forced to allow the translated Bible.
