Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • Rising Action
  • Harrison has just escaped from jail and is highly dangerous! So whatever you do stay away!
  • Climax
  • George and Hazel are watching a ballet recital one afternoon. While they are watching they try to have a normal conversation, but the conversation is abruptly interrupted by the occasional ringing in George's ear.  The ringing is caused by handicaps that George has, and this is so that people like Hazel feel average living in their society.
  • Falling Action
  • The ballet recital is interrupted by a urgent news story. The reporter says that Harrison Bergeron has just escaped jail after being held under superstition of attempting to overthrow the government. Harrison made his way to the place where the ballet recital was taking place and took off his hadicaps and also one of the ballerinas hadicaps.
  • Resolution
  • The Handicap General ordered Harrison and the ballerina to put back on their handicaps or else they would be shot. They both refused to put them back on and were shot.
  • Literary Device: Imagery
  • After Harrison and the ballerina are shot, the Handicap General threatens to shot anyone else with their handicaps off. So that the people watching the television do not see, the screen goes to static.
  • George comes back into the room to find the tv in static. He asked Hazel what has happened but Hazel does not understand, so she does not know.  Everything goes back to the way that it was because of the control that the government has over their people.
  • What happened here?
  • "The rest of Harrison's appearance was Halloween and hardware. Nobody had ever born heavier handicaps...And to offset his good looks, the H-G men required that he wear at all times a red rubber ball for his nose, keep his eyebrows shaved off, and cover his even white teeth with black caps at snaggle-tooth random"(Vonnegut 112-124).
