  • Setting
  • Protagonist-  Matilda cook
  • Imagine living in a normal city where everything is just fine, but when a fever hits town and kills almost everyone you know and love. You are the last of your family. You are alone.
  • Antagonist- Matilda Cook 
  • I am so hungry!
  • This story takes place in Philadelphia in the year 1793. The city starts off like any other city, filled with people but things start to change when yellow fever takes over.
  • Conflict- Character vs. self  
  • The protagonist of this story is a teenage girl named Matilda Cook. She is very strong and brave. sadly she is forced to grow up and mature quickly. 
  • Theme 
  • oh my goodness! Eliza!
  • Matilda is both the protagonist and the antagonist because while the fever and death is all around her she is constantly thinking about her death.
  • In Fever 1793 Matilda has to deal with herself and stop thinking negatively. She always is putting herself in a position were she is thinking about death or the fever. 
  • The main theme in Fever 1793 is that life goes on. Matilda is all alone for most of this novel, but when she finds a few friends she realizes that life must go on.
