  • Walt Disney was fired from his news paper artist job in Missouri for not having enough creativity and imagination. Walt was 18 years old with only $40
  • Walt Disney flew to Hollywood, California from Kansas City hoping to find a new job and start a better life there.
  • He first created a character called Oswald the Lucky Rabbit but he lost rights to it. By stretching the idea and making some changes he created the beloved Mickey Mouse.
  • Soon his business skyrocketed. He created many more characters and stories like Snow white and the seven dwarfs. Now in the 1950's he has the idea of creating a Theme park. Within the first few years his parks were criticized as  unsanitary and dangerous
  • Still, Walt Keeps on pushing forward. He is now owning one of the most well known companies. He is a billionaire that was fired from his job and starting with only $40 pushing through many obstacles
  • This connects to the character Salva from the book "A Long Walk to Water" because Salva had to keep facing opsticles throughout the whole entire story. He went through everything, like his town being raided by war and having to move through many refugee camps. Walt Disney had to persevere in a similar way that he faced many obstacles and challenges.
