  • How did the development of the oil industry lead to urban growth in texas. Boomtowns were created when oil was found near a town. Boomtowns had thousands of residents in them. Most farmers and young people traveled to these towns which were usually dirty and dangerous places to live. Many of the residents were just people who worked in the oil fields.

  • i could've finished a lot faster if i had a plow or a tractor
  • Describe what life was/is like in the oil fields. The fields were disgusting and dirty and filthy. Workers usually lived in whatever they could like would shacks or tents. There was usually violence because people only went there for money and lots of people were drunk.
  • What are some advantages of railroads over other types of transportation in Texas? Most rivers in texas were shallow so people couldn’t really put boats in it. Dirt roads got muddy in rain. Railroads were fast and cheap and it was less work to ship items to different places.
  • I don't have to travel in water so I can make it
  • I cant travel in shallow water i'm never going to make it
  • How did new technology help farmers adapt to farming in West Texas in the 1840s?Deep steel plows helped break through hard soil at the top of the ground. Threshers separate seeds from grains which made less work. The farmers also used windmills to get water for the crops.
