John white went to England to get supplies. It took him 3 years but he intended to be gone for only 6-8 months. When he got back to Roanoke he found the word "Croatoan" carved into a tree. John White and other people believed that settlers relocated Croatoan 50 miles south because there was no cross carved into the tree as well.
John White and 117 other colonist set sail from England to a new world on April 26, 1587. Two tears earlier Sir Richard Grenville left England and 100 men to get more supplies. On June in the year 1586 the colonist returned to England because they were tired of waiting for white.
The scenario I believe is that the colonist were killed by Native Americans. I believe this because in the text it says, "Several explorers who helped set up the Ralph lane colony returned to check on their progress because of the tense relationships with the natives," This shows that the natives didn't really like the colonists because they had a tight relationship. "From this past event, we know that the natives were capable of such horrific acts" If they were capable of horrific acts they might of been capable to kill the colonist. " We also know that they were capable of hiding bodies." If they killed the colonist they were most likely to hide the bodies too.
