“Yep, that’s where we live: hell!”While an undisclosed person refers to the area that they live to as hell, they are comfortable enough to say it bluntly. This allows for the reader to envision the seen as I have here.
“My daddy is nothing like your daddy!” I shouted. “When my daddy passes out, he never pisses himself!”Being told how her dad is the same as this deadbeat dad who pissed himself, clear parallel is shown.
"But Mom’s salary created a whole new set of problems. While Dad liked it that Mom was bringing home a paycheck, he saw himself as the head of the household, and he maintained that the money should be turned over to him." This part of the story invokes irony as the dad had believed that the mother working would solve most if not all of the families problems. The dad was the one that had a problem afterwards.
