  • 1815: Britain Imports Opium into China
  • Let's make them buy the opium so we can take their money!
  • 1839: Opium War
  • 1864: Taiping Rebellion
  • We're going to fight for the Qing Dynatsy!
  • Were going to fight for the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom!
  • The British sold opium to the Chinese. The British used the profits to purchase Chinese luxuries such as porcelain, silk, and tea.
  • 1890: Spheres of Influence
  • The Opium War arose from China's attempts to suppress the opium trade. The British continued to illegally import the opium, causing serious social and economic disruption in the Chinese government.
  • 1900: Boxer Rebellion
  • We must fight for our country!!!
  • The Taiping Rebellion was a total civil war in China between the Manchu-led Quing Dynasty and the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, which was led by Hong Xiuquan.
  • European nations divided China up into spheres of influence, and ran them.
  • The Boxer Rebellion was an anti-foreign, anti-colonial, and anti-Christian uprising that took place during the end of the Qing dynasty.
