  • Heller was denied but the rules also violated the second amendment which protects the keeping of guns in home.

  • In 2008, The nine justices worked together to interpret the meaning of militia and who it refers to.
  • Does the District of Columbia rule that requires licensed and nonfunctional firearms only to be allowed in homes violate the second amendment?
  • In a 5-4 decision, the Court decided that militia refers to not only the military but also to people who served the country. It also made the use of guns expand to self defense rather than for military use.
