I am creating new account, to this awesome website where I will store all my personal info such as credit card information and bank account numbers, but what should my password be... how about "awesome1234", its easy enough to remember. Yeah, that sounds good!
Hey, this website that my friend told me about looks handy, however without a secure password it is very risky. I will randomly generate a password and store the password on a piece of paper in a safe where no one except me can access it.
Hmm... look at this website where a lot of people seem to be storing their personal information, it seems like the perfect place to hack. I will code a program to run through common password so the next day I can hack into those people's accounts.
Later at night in the hacker's basement
Hah Hah Hah! The program was a success. I have succeeded in getting all of the personal information from this guy named Jack. He had such an easy password my brute force algorithm found his password in minutes. However, none of my algorithms were able to figure out this person named John's password.
The next day
Oh no! Someone hacked into my account and stole all of my personal information! How could they have accessed my account?
Hey, look at this email from that website I signed up for last time. It says that someone tried various attacks on my account, trying to steal my personal information. Luckily, the website recognized, that someone was trying to hack into my account and locked my account before they could take any data.
