Storyboard Text

  • The Indian Removal Act caused loss of population for the Indian Tribes. Many Indian tribes had to loose their land because of the forced proposal made by Andrew Jackson.
  • The different Indian tribes that were affected were Cherokees, Creeks, Choctaws, Chickasaws, and Seminoles. They all were affected and lost their homes.
  • In 1837, federal troops were called by Andrew Jackson to force Indian tribes out of their homes to new Indian territory. The march was 800 miles long and 1/4th of them died due to exposure, starvation, and fevers. This is known as the Trail of Tears.
