When King Arthur was 15, he sent 40 male babies out to the sea on May Day to prevent his fate from happening. Merlin prophesized his son would kill Arthur in the future.

Nynveve comes and visits "Tad," (he is 6) and tells him and fishmother that he needs to go with her. When he rides on the horse, he realizes that he will never see fishmother again. She takes him away to his new home until he is 15.

He discovers that he is Mordred and decides to pay King Arthur a visit. He eventually becomes a knight at the round table. He goes on a quest in an attempt to fight his fate

In attempt to do good and fight his fate, he sets the bird in a cage that he finds, and as a result, Nyneve, the white falcon, and his dog die.
Everyone I care about is dead!
Mordred finally accepts his fate and chooses to fight King Arthur. He gives his soul to King Arthur, and Mordred turns into a raven.
