  • Hoot, by Carl Hiaaasen is a about a boy named Roy who helps out one of his friends step-brothers who is trying to save owls that are gonna be bull-dozed by a pancake house property. He tries to make the owners get so mad so that they dont build the building and the owls will be okay. 
  • Climax
  • Roy lives in Coconut Cove, Florida. One day Roy was riding the bus. He was getting bullied by a kid named Dana Matherson. When he looked out the window and saw a strange boy running outside without shoes on. 
  • Falling Action
  • Roy was tired of getting bullied by Dana Matherson. One day Roy was messing with Roy so he punched him in the nose. When he did that he saw the running boy outside running. He ran off the bus and also ran into Beatrice on the way off the bus.  
  • Resolution
  • Beatrice's brother is trying to make the pancake house so mad that they don't build there. The day of the grand opening lots of people go to it and Roy, Beatrice, and her brother tell the owner that there are owls and that they cant bulldoze the property. The owner gets very mad because he knows that they are right.
  • Kimberly Lou Dixon gets upset about the owls. She did not know that the owls were there. She quit and made it so that they can not build there and the owls are safe.
  • At the end they are not able to build there and detroy the owls homes. They did not have the necessary permits to hurt the owls. Roy and his family go back there once in a while and look at the owls.
