  • The Beginning...
  • ALL THE OTHER KIDS
  • Let's just conquer everything, ok?
  • According to the Nomadic Warrior Theory, this one cool Kurgan dude was all like "aaight bois let's get this VICTORY ROYALE" and just decided to conquer almost all of Europe and the Middle East. He spread Kurganeese, or Indo- European, to the whole world. This is opposed to the sedientary farmer theory, which said that people wanted to talk to each other while being farmers and were like "bro let's just make a pidgin language and spread it"
  • Americaneese In Other Countreez
  • Paaralan
  • After Kurganeese spread to Europe, it was developed to fit local preferences. In England, however, it was made into "Old English". After many invasions, specifically Germanic Invasion and Norman Invasion, not to mention the French one, the language changed to what it is today. We still use words from the French and Germanic tribes, what we call "borrowed words".
  • English in Pop Culture
  • One day, the English just woke up and decided, "Let's go and diffuse our culture LITERALLY EVERYWHERE." The British imperialism started turning English into the Lingua Franca around the world. The insane amount of colonies that they had- throughout the world, too- made English into a truly worldwide language (through assimilation, of course)
  • English in International Schools
  • yes
  • English?
  • no
  • The English Language is very prominent in the Philippines. Through the American schooling system, English was promoted as a civilizing tool (meaning that it was used to 'civilize' the Filipino, making them more like Americans); however, now it is taught in schools because it is the lingua franca of the world- giving their students a higher chance to succeed in every aspect of life.
  • As English took over the world, becoming a lingua franca, It also took over pop culture. Most songs feature English lyrics, almost all sporting events are dictated in it, international movies have english subs, and more.
  • Because English is taking over the world, many countries are integrating English as a national language. For example, in Taiwan, officials are turning English into an official language, in order to help Taiwanese kids succeed in international competitiveness. As a result of this, the Indigenous languages of Mandarin and Hakka will become less and less popular.
