  • TO solve her problem, Prudence had to confront  the white pupils' parents.
  • Summary - If/Then & Aha! Huh? 
  • If Prudence didn't opened her school, then girls from  Canterbury, Connecticut and  far on wouldn't have the opportunity to learn the way Prudence did.
  • The difference between Prudence and the white students' parents is that Prudence thinks inequality is not right, but what if the parents don't? This is important because if the parents think blacks and whites have to be treated differently, then the parents will take their students out of her school because they don't want Sarah with their kids

  • Opening her own  school, girls from everywhere came to learn  in her school.
  • "Prudence had bought a large house with plenty of space for classrooms and opened her very own school right in the middle of the little town of Canterbury, Connecticut"(1).
  • 2 Aha! -Black people and White  people weren't treated equally. -Prudence was a very smart and determined woman. 1 Huh? -Why were black people not being treated equally?
