Nick can't sleep, so he goes to Gatsby's house to talk to him.
Nick and Gatsby talk and Nick suggests that Gatsby leave and forget about Daisy.
Gatsby tells Nick about when he fell in love with Daisy during the war, and how he felt he wasn't worthy of her because he was poor.
While at Oxford, Gatsby found out that Tom and Daisy got married, even though she said she would wait for him and he planned on becoming rich to win her back.
Nick leaves for work and tells Gatsby that he is better than Tom, Daisy and their, friends. Gatsby is about to swim in his pool after realizing he hasn't all summer.
When Nick gets to work, Jordan calls him and asks if he wants to go on a date. He says no and starts to retell what happened later the night Myrtle was killed.
