After Myrtle was killed, her husband, George Wilson stayed up all night talking to Michaelis. At this time he said he knew Myrtle was having an affair, and that the eyes of God were watching her. George came to the conclusion that Myrtle's lover killed her.
George believes God is telling him to seek revenge, so he tries to find the man that killed Myrtle. He knows Tom is familiar with the car, but not the driver. Tom tells George that the car belongs to Gatsby and George sets out to kill him.
When Nick returns to West Egg, he discovers that George Wilson killed Gatsby. Nick wonders what was on his mind since he never got to live his true dream of being with Daisy.
