In 1890, Nasir al-Din sold a concession to a British company in order to export Persain tobacco. This outraged Jamal al- Din al- Afghani who set up a tobacco boycott, and riots broke out.
In 1899 war between the British and the Boers broke out. Since diamonds and gold were discovered in Africa, Boers tried to keep outsiders from gaining political rights. They blamed the British for their problems and went to war against them. The Boers used specific tactics, and in turn, they were imprisoned in concentration camps.
