Succession Storyboard

Storyboard Text

  • 2,000 years ago a volcanic eruption happens leaving an entire forest in South America as barren rock
  • Slowly pioneer plants start growing including mosses and ferns which is primary succession
  • As the plants grow and decompose, the soil becomes richer and more plants begin to grow
  • Soon, bigger plants including trees start to grow and the soil becomes more nutritious
  • Animals begin to settle in and eat the surrounding plants. This created manure, which enriches the soil
  • Eventually the forest is restored to its climax community
