  • This scene supports the idea that although beaten down, the prisoners  had creative ways  of coping with their confinement and sustaining themselves by showing how the would cope and that even if something is hard, you are still able to overcome it.

  • The words in the quotation that have strong connotation to me are silent, motionless, hunted-down creatures. these words convey th etone of the narrative by showing how this time frame was a sad and grime time for most people.
  • Wisel sometimes uses punctuation and sentence structure to convey meaning. Reread the second to last paragraph in the text. Why does he use short, incomplete sentence ? How does this stylistic approach affect meaning?
  • In this paragraph he uses short incomplete sentences to give a deeper meaning to his words and make it short and brusque how everything  was. He wanted it to be flat out there and known what it was like.
