Odysseus wants to seek revenge on the cyclops. He ponders on either or not he should kill him or leave him be. He knows if he kills the cyclops they can not escape from the cave. He decides to leave him be until he finds the perfect chance to execute his plan.
Odysseus wants to escape the cave so he stabbed the cyclops in the eye. This distracts him while Odysseus and his men escape on the stomachs of the cyclops's lambs. Since the cyclops could not see out of his eye, it made for an easy escape.
As Odysseus and his men make their escape, Odysseus choices to taunt the cyclops one last time. Doing this makes the cyclops mad, and also his men. His men tells him to stop but Odysseus refuses. Since he did not refuse, the cyclops gets ma and throws a bolder at the ship.
