  • A property of matter distinguishing characteristic of a substance that is used in its identification and description.
  • There are two general types of properties of matter, namely, its physical property and chemical property.
  • Chemical property is the characteristic of a substance that describes the way the substance undergoes or resists change to form a new substance.
  • Physical property on the other hand are characteristics that can be observed without changing its chemical property.
  • A matter's physical property can be described as either an extensive or intensive property
  • Extensive property depends on the amount of substance, while intensive property depends on the type of matter making up the substance.
