  • Madison's Debacle
  • My first month at Coastal Charter school has been terrible. I used to get all A's at my old school, now I am falling behind.
  • Madison's Inner Struggle
  • I just don't understand how my grades are dropping. I thought I was so smart. I used to do so well at my old school. Maybe I should just go back to my old school..
  • Madison's Fixed Mindset
  • I don't want to look dumb in front of my new classmates by getting C's. I'd rather just go back to my old school and have the grades I used to have.
  • I just don't know what do anymore. I don't want to fail.
  • Madison started at Coastal Charter a month ago. At her old school, she was used to getting A's and some B's. Now that Madison is at a new school, her classes have become harder and she got her first C- on a test.
  • Madison's Teacher confronts Madison
  • Madison is in conflict with herself. She considers going back to her old school because she had such great grades there.
  • Madison's Teacher shows her a Growth Mindset
  • When I first transferred here, my grades were terrible, but I knew if I asked for help and stayed positive I would be okay and my grades would be too.
  • Madison wants to give up on her new charter school and go back to her old school without. She doesn't want to ask for help because she thinks she will be made fun of by her classmates.
  • Madison's Growth Mindset
  • I now understand that I need to believe in myself, stay positive, and ask for help when I need it in order to succeed!
  • Madison's teacher notices Madison becoming withdrawn from class and decides to say something.
  • Madison, I've noticed you've been withdrawn from the class and I want to help bring you back to focus!
  • Madison's teacher gives Madison a pep talk. She encourages Madison to take a break from stressing about her grades. A classmate also talks to Madison, giving her advice.
  • I think you should give yourself a break. You just transferred a month ago. Your grades will come back up. Stay positive and know that its okay to ask for help.
  • Madison now realizes its okay to not have the grades you want and that it is okay to ask for help when needed. She knows she can achieve all things when her mind is set to the right place.
  • Thank you for talking to me about mindsets. I now know that I need to have a Growth Mindset in order to succeed!!
  • You're welcome Madison! I knew you could overcome this little bump in the road. Just remember to believe in yourself!!!
