"He start to choke me, saying You better shut up and git used to it. But I don't never git used to it.". From the very beginning we see the type of abuse Celie faces through out the novel.
With the common theme of The Color Purple being women are treated like objects, it was not surprising the see this young girl traded off to a man just to serve him without question.
Why couldn't the old man just given me Nettie!!
In time her "husband" gave up on being the provider for his children, Celie nobly filled the role where he was lacking.
I take care of kids, tend the fields, and cook. What alse is expected of me
Celie and her best friend, Shug, finally get down to the truth of where Nettie is. She finds a new flame with in herself that was never there before.
This isn't the man I know!
After all this time, my sister is alive.
Nettie and Celie resume communications and the fate of Celie's children was positive and they are exposed to a culture different from their own. Mean while Celie is growing into a stronger more independent woman with every passing day.
After many long years Celie finally gets to see her children, it is an indescribable moment of joy for this mother. Nettie did the impossible and brings her children back to their mother.
