On March 5, 1770 the tension between the colonists and red coats broke out into violence. Crispus Atticus and four other colonists were shot and killed. John Adams defended the red coats in court and won.
The militia waited as General Wiliam Howe and 2,000 redcoat soilders came to the hill. The redcoats won, but the militia and General William Prescott held their own against the world's strongest army.
"Althoughhundreds of muskets were firing at him, he gallopedthrough the battlefield 'like a madman'". When the British troops arrived at camp, they were exhausted. The Continental Army surronded and fired all day and night until the Bourgorne decided to surrender.
