  • In the Midddle Ages, the catholic church had become the most powerful organization in the world.  People started then criticizing the Catholic church about teachings and rules.

  • At first people would privately criticize the church, then a man named Martin Luther was the first to openly criticize it. He did this by nailing the 95 things he thought the Church needed to fix. These were called the "95 Theses". He eventually left the church and started his own religion.

  • I don't agree with many of the Catholic rules, so I want them to know that!!!
  • He is right, the Church is in a bad place!! I'm leaving!!!!
  • Due to the printing press, this became very ppouplar. People even bgan following them and started leaving the Catholic church as well.

  • The Catholic Church had to do something about this issue. So they decided to call the Council of Trent. This council was held in three parts and the purpose of it was to revitalize the church .

  • The Catholic church corrected all the beliefs that Martin was teaching other people such as sola fide. This meant that we only need faith. They corrected it and stated that we needed both faith and good works. any of his other beliefs included sola Gratio, Christo, and Scriptura. 
  • We shall start by adressing some of Martin Luther's beliefs. Like Sola fide.

  • Church clearly deifines it teching. It also becomes much more united because of this.
  • Church was able to fix the many corruptions and abuses it had.

  • Rise of new orders helped restore image of legitimacy of the Church.
  • The Protestrant Reformation affected the church in many good ways, but also many bad ways. This was a huge reason in the church's downfall and up rise.
  • Many people have left the church and continue to do so today.
