Equality appeared before the Council of Vocations to be assigned a life mandate. He wished to be a scholar but the Council stated "Street Sweeper" (Rand 26).
Equality and International were on duty when they saw a grill and pulled it out to discover a hole. International wanted to report it to the Council but Equality announced "We shall go down" (Rand 31).
Equality and Liberty could only see each other at a hedge by the road Equality was sweeping. They would raise their hand to their head as a greeting as explained by Equality "...we greeted each other with our eyes" (Rand 40).
The Saint of the Pyre was caught saying the Unspeakable Word and was consequently burned for it. Equality thought the Saint of the Pyre looked at him and wanted him to learn the word as written "...it seemed to us that the eyes of the Transgressor had chosen us" (Rand 51).
Equality was studying in his hideout when he discovered electricity and magnetism. This was unknown and it was an incredible breakthrough as Equality describes it as "...a new miracle and a new power"
Equality and Liberty once again met at the hedge. Liberty offered Equality water and he may or may not have drank it as written by Equality "We do not know if we drank that water." (Rand 57).
