  • Conflict
  • Rising Action
  • The story takes place in and American small town in the late summer when a flash goes across the sky over Maple Street.
  • Climax
  • Conflict arises when the neighborhood is trying to figure out who the Monster on Maple Street is and Sally's son Tommy shares a story about aliens coming to Earth. 
  • Falling Action
  • The Monsters on Maple Street shut off all of the power on the street. Then the neighborhood created a mob accusing Les of being an alien. That leads to Les accusing Steve. All commotion comes to a halt when a shadowy figure comes walking down Maple Street.
  • Resolution
  • Pete VanHorn is shot dead by Charlie. Charlie had thought that Pete was an alien so he shot.
  • People are so angry at Charlie because of what has happened to Pete VanHorn that they all begin to throw rocks at Charlie. He gets hit in the head once. The crowd went wild as the power began to slowly flicker an come back on.
  • As the aliens returned power to Maple Street the residents were still arguing about who was the monster on Maple Street was. Words are just as powerful as weapons, and this is why the Monsters were due on Maple Street.
